Welcome back!

It’s been a busy summer / start of the year!
If you don’t know what happened, have a look at the July Newsletter.

Today, I want to talk about another change happening as we speak: we are upgrading the software on workstations from Office 2016 to Office 365 (skipping Office 2019 altogether).

OFFICE 365 (On premise)

As you all know, we were using Office 365 on the web already, this upgrade will allow us to bring the on premise workstation software in line with the web portal.

What are the benefits?

There are many but the ones you will notice quickly are:

  • A more modern interface
  • More feature than Office 2016/2019
  • Better plugin integration
  • Tighter integration with the cloud and seamless automatic logins in parts of the software.
  • It is also 64bit. 64bit has a much better use of RAM (PC memory) which benefits large spreadsheets for example.

If it’s so good… Why now and not before?

Two things made this possible:

As it been tested?
Yes, Mr Gowen tested it in the DLC for a while and now we are pushing it to IT rooms school wide.
If you experience any issues, let us know.
