Who is Secure Schools?
In 2022, Secure Schools was acquired by the Wonde group. If you work in schools, you will be familiar with the product.
What do they do?
Phishing simulation, training, and policy management.
What led to this point?
Last year, an IT audit confirmed we needed to run phishing simulations on the network.
We investigated various maket leaders and opted for Secure Schools. Why?
Other products like Knowbe4, one of the market leader, were costly and aimed at businesses.
Secure schools was tailored for schools (you can target Arbor, SIMS, Satchel… on top of the usual Office 365/Google/Zoom) and was priced for education.
Strength.
- easy to setup (Wonde integration is obviously a thing here)
- easy to use and well designed
- achieves what it aims to deliver at an affordable price which makes it good value for money.
- The reporting is clear and consise and page 1 of the report can be used to inform staff on the results of the attack and bring awareness without any naming and shaming.
- Based on phone calls and a meeting at the BETT show, the company seems to be customer focused and opened to feedback.
- SSO has just been launched and is working!
Weaknesses.
We experienced a few mild bugs during configuration but nothing major.
There are features that would be great to add:
- capability to tweak/customize templates (change a name, date, picture…)
- mimic spear/whale phishing attacks
- capability to make attacks more random to avoid staff warning others about a specific attack (we have been told it is in the works)
- Use of AI to target attacks for repeat offenders or to auto-assign training based on the type of failed simulation.
- Notifications for Line managers

Conclusion
There is a lot to love about this product and it has the potential to be the best solution for phishing attack in schools in the – near? – future. Whether Secure Schools commits to better the product over time or not, it doesn’t change the fact that, even in its current state, Secure Schools is a great tool to help schools better their cyber security at a price that doesn’t break the bank.
